What are PDO threads and what does the treatment consist of?
The Hair Transplant Clinic of Dr. Panno announces, after more than a year of work, research and application, its new treatment called FoliPDO, which represents a revolution in the field of hair regeneration treatments and of which we are pioneers at the level national and international.
This treatment is carried out with PDO threads. PDO threads were initially used to perform small lifts or to enhance collagen or elastin in the face. Well, now these PDO threads are also placed on the scalp, generating a contribution of collagen, a reactivation of blood flow and a collaboration in the expansion in that area of other growth factors. The discovery is that anchors close to the hairline greatly improve the quality of the surrounding hair.
PDO threads are made of polydioxanone, which is a 100% tissue biocompatible and 100% resorbable material. They are fine strands that are introduced under the scalp, whose action consists of stimulating the tissues and the formation of new collagen and fibroblasts, increasing the release of growth factors, increasing blood flow and thus regenerating the scalp.
They are made of a highly safe material that is applied in cardiac surgery techniques and favors the cohesion of the cells, which makes the threads fully compatible, resorbable, safe and durable.
Characteristics of the FoliPDO treatment
The treatment is performed under local anesthesia, in the operating room, with minimal discomfort and has a short duration and does not interfere with activities of daily living.
The effect is similar to that of the application of a plasma rich in platelets but enhanced and of longer duration, and can last up to a year. Furthermore, with PDO threads there is no risk of rejection and they are perfectly tolerated by the patient.
The FoliPDO treatment is complemented with other hair regeneration treatments, such as Platelet Rich Plasma or Capillary Mesotherapy and lasts between 6 months to a year of effectiveness.
